Have you heard about Clubhouse yet?

Updated: Feb 12

Clubhouse is an audio-based social media app. Clubhouse describes itself as "a new type of social network based on voice — where people around the world come together to talk, listen and learn from each other in real-time." The app was created by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth.

So, you can join in different chats, talk about different topics in a chatroom that feels like a live podcast. You can choose to just listen, but you can also participate in the conversation.

However, you may not record or save conversations. This also means that you cannot make podcasts from your Clubhouse conversations.

Who uses Clubhouse?

Clubhouse has built its reputation partly on exclusivity. You must be invited to get in although that may change soon. The chat is used by celebrities and authorities in certain fields. Because it can only be joined by invitation, it has enormous appeal since it is seen as something special.

You will have the opportunity to listen to, and even participate in conversations with people that you might never normally encounter. The app is perfect for networking and building new contacts.

How does Clubhouse work?

When you have a Clubhouse account, you can listen to other conversation rooms or participate yourself. You can of course also create rooms yourself. There are three different options for doing this. You can create an open (can be joined by everyone), social (only joinable by people you follow) or closed (only to be listened to by selected Clubhousers) room.

How do you get an invitation to Clubhouse?

At this point, you still cannot join Clubhouse without an invitation. If you are an iPhone user, you can download the app and reserve a username. The app plans to expand to the wider public soon. You can be invited by a friend or acquaintance through your phone number and contact list. However, you can only invite a limited number of people.

Clubhouse is still in its early stages and is still exclusive, but this will change in the future. Do you have more questions or ideas about Clubhouse? Let us know and get in touch about this amazing new gem in the social media world.
